Stone vs. Brook

I randomly read two articles in a row, and it struck me that they almost perfectly serve to clarify two sides in a profound debate. The first article was related to Oliver Stone's claim that various American industries should be nationalized a la socialist dictator Hugo Chavez, the subject of his recent fawning propaganda film. The second article was an op-ed by Yaron Brook, Atlas Shrugged's Timeless Moral: Profit-Making Is Virtue, Not Vice, and provides an eloquent overview of the central theme of Ayn Rand's magnum opus. Also, last fall, in one of my favorite posts, Chavez, Jones, and Obama: The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions and Red Carpet, I wrote about Stone's documentary, Chavez, Obama, Van Jones, and some of the underlying philosophical issues that explain and unite these characters.

The debate is over the question of capitalism versus socialism, individual freedom versus totalitarian dictatorship, or life versus death. You be the judge.

Let's nationalize the movie-making industry while we're at it. Oliver Stone should work for the betterment of the Nation, and not be so selfish. Why should he live so high?

Agreed. Too crucial a business to be left to private companies. Barney Frank for film czar and Harry Reid can direct.
